Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis 18kt Cartier Tank watch sold for $379,500!
Wow.....the timepiece sold well above sale estimate's of $120,000. The Cartier 18kt Tank currently sells in stores in the small size for $8000.00 and the large size for $9050.00.
The watch sold in three minutes with more than a dozen bids.
How cool ..............Check out the engraving on the back of the 18k gold Cartier Tank!
It reads.............“Stas to Jackie 23 Feb. 63 2:05 am to 9:35 pm,” a reference to a 50 mile walk Prince Stanislaw “Stas” Radziwill and Chuck Spalding did in Palm Beach, Florida.
In efforts to support President Kennedy's challenge to the American public to walk this distance to stay fit , Radziwill, who was married to Jackie’s younger sister, Lee, and Spalding, a friend of President John F. Kennedy, did the hike.
Christie’s said the president’s inner circle of family and friends were the first to attempt the 50 mile hike.
The watch was sold as well as a painting done by Onassis for her brother inaw commemorating the hike.
The auction house said the watch and the painting, previously unknown to the public, are “two of the most important historic artifacts to surface in recent years from the golden era of the Kennedy presidency.”
The Tank watch belonging to the former first lady was sold Wednesday at Christie’s as part of the “Rare Watches and American Icons New York” sale.

Shells have been used in the making of cameos since the 15th century and shell cameos gained great popularity during Queen Victoria's reign in the 1800s. During this time, a woman's profile became one of the most sought-after motifs, and it is still a favorite design today. Tom is our Sidney Thomas Jewelers Estate buyer , he has put together this beautiful collection of impressive shell cameo Estate pieces, including brooches, rings and pendants.

Everyone needs a mentor.......
Sometimes, in your search for mentorship you come across multiple people who seem like they will guide you along every step of the way. But more often than not, these are part time advisers, who help you for a little while but always expect something in return. Everyone searches for someone who would proudly make you one of their own and teach you everything they know and more?....I needed someone to guide me through what was about to be happening next....and here is how I discovered that Bob Simone was my true mentor.
TWO IN A HALF MINUTES.....
When I took my first shaky steps back into my old, but new store I felt like I was 12 again, unsure but excited at the same time! My staff and I had lost our dream positions in 2009 and found we had excepted " jobs " after our store had closed, and we needed and wanted our careers back. It's funny about how life comes back to you and puts you were you are meant to be. In 2011 , Bob was a key factor in bringing us back as a team. To be honest we were unsure if this was our forever home....been there, done that..... HELLO!! Bob sensed our feelings and made the following statement, "It's only been two in a half minutes , and soon it will feel like home again". How right he was! It is our home, and it took more like three minutes to realize it. LOL........ Today is Bob's our COO last day with Sidney Thomas Jewelers, as he is retiring , and I have to tell you we will miss this man.
LET ME SHARE WHY HE WILL BE MISSED BY SO MANY.....
IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK , WALKS LIKE A DUCK, AND TALKS LIKE A DUCK...IT'S A DUCK!
Being appreciated or reprimanded for the work you do is a natural consequence of the professional world. Bob as my true mentor , always tells us like it is. If you’re work is commendable, he will be the first to recognise and praise it. However, if you are falling short on your efforts and productivity, then he will also be the one to point out your mistakes and ask you to do better. He might not have had a filter sometimes , but when it came to guiding us, his goal was to make sure that we reached our maximum potential.
ITS NOT A RACE, ITS A MARATHON.....
As a true mentor he made himself available at any time of the day. There was no prescribed time period for you to approach him with a doubt or a question. It could be on a Sunday afternoon when you needed to confirm a deadline, or it could be even be on a Saturday night when you needed help on a negotiation . My mentor was always approachable and open to take our questions.
ASK ME ANYTHING .....
Sometimes, you hold back from asking a supervisor a question you may have about work. This maybe the fear of being judged for asking a dumb question, which essentially, you believe will be wasting their time. However, Bob would always encourage you to ask. The first thing he would tell you is, that no matter how big or small the question, you will never be criticised because no question was dumb.
GOT YOUR BACK.....
There would be times when you would question situations regarding your job. However, my mentor would always have my and everyone else's back. No matter what the situation, he would always speak up for me and protect us from any undue attack from outsiders. He may even chastise you later in private, but the world will understand that to get to you, they will have to get through him first.
ALWAYS ROOM FOR GROWTH....
When I overshoot myself and let overconfidence get in the way of my work quality, it was Bob who would bring me back to the ground. No matter how good or average your work , he would be sure to always remind you of your potential and tell you where you have room for improvement. He would never hold back from offering you constructive criticism and giving you pointers on how to incorporate them because your victory was his victory.
The truth is that Bob made us want to be dedicated, and together we set a course to conquer.
Thank you Bob, for using your voice to empower others....
I hope you are lucky enough to have someone like Bob Simone in your life!
